Backpacks

The term back-to-school reminds me of Christmas shopping, where there is a list of to-do's and to-buy's.  I was digging around to see what's out there for designer kids backpacks -- it's a questionable expense - do you see it as something that will get destroyed within the first few months of school, or as a personal statement like a handbag?  Either way, these are some of my faves:

Marimekko Flora Unikko Backpack
Sadly, the Flora bag is discontinued, but the Vancouver Marimekko website carries the Bo Boo pattern backpack by Reppu: Reppu Bo Boo Backpack

Oilily makes fabulous scandanavian style outfits and accessories - the colours are fun, beautiful and vibrant:

Gap strikes the balance between price point and designer style - the matching lunch bags are great. I love shopping for previous seasons' collections on eBay, but sometimes sellers capitalize on hard to find items and charge more than current lines.

The classic Randoseru is a firm sided backpack made with leather, most commonly used in Japan by elementary school children.

Black is the trademark "boy" colour, while red is the signature "girl" colour.  However, the randoseru is available in a wide array of colours:

In a whimsical style is the Manuella bag, as seen by celeb children like Suri Cruise - it's cute and hard-to-find:

Out of Sweden comes the fresh Eastpak backpacks - the crisp white is gorgeous and modern:

Different designers gives their own spin on the classic Eastpak Padded Pak:

I love the Seak Street Art version as well:

And the Subs version:

Happy Shopping!
